In a major technological milestone, ASELSAN and TOBB University of Economics and Technology (ETÜ) have successfully unveiled Turkey’s first quantum computer. This achievement marks a significant step forward in Turkey’s efforts to become a key player in the global quantum technology arena.

The quantum computer, featuring a 5-qubit processor, was developed at the Quantum Technologies Research Laboratory (KUANTAL), established in November 2022. The project exemplifies the strong collaboration between academia and industry in advancing high-tech innovation.

Yusuf Bora Kartal, Director of Radar Programs at ASELSAN, emphasized the transformative potential of quantum computing in fields such as data security, artificial intelligence, defense technologies, and climate modeling. He highlighted that quantum computers offer remarkable capabilities for solving highly complex computational problems.

Supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries, this initiative aims to strengthen Turkey’s technological independence and innovation capacity.

This development signals Turkey’s growing ambition and capability in the field of quantum computing.
